The internet is a great resource for medical information. With the vast amount of information available, it is easy to get lost! Listed below are a number of health related web sites that may be of interest to you.

American Academy of Dermatology
Everything you want to know about your skin. It's all here from Acne to Warts. Dermatology information for consumers as well as health professionals.

American Council On Exercise
Informative fact sheets called "Fit Facts" addresses all kinds of issues related to exercise, nutrition, weight management, and health. ACE Certification information for fitness professionals.

American Diabetes Association
Current research overviews, patient information for living with diabetes, treatment, blood sugar monitoring, nutrition and fitness, and even a recipe of the day. Links to local state affiliated sites.

American Dietetic Association — Eat Right America
Nutrition information for consumers and dieticians. Gives daily nutrition tips, nutrition resources, fact sheets on fiber, fat, calcium, and a variety of other hot nutrition topics.

American Medical Association
View a variety of consumer information in the Health Insight section, or return to the AMA home page to access the latest research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Attention Deficit Disorder: Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorders (C.H.A.D.D.)
CH.A.D.D. is a nonprofit parent-based organization formed to better the lives of individuals with attention deficit disorders and those who care for them.

BabyCenter
A very interactive site with a lot of pregnancy and baby care resources. Includes a due date calculator, bulletin boards, a baby namer, and health information on care for the mother, family life tips, and much more.

Be A Mentor Program

National Cancer Institute
Up to date info on cancer treatments, descriptions of all types of cancers, stages of cancer, and clinical trials. Excellent multi-media kid's page. Cancer info for kids, by kids, as well as for parents. Searchable index of information. Also material in Spanish.

Cholesterol: National Cholesterol Education Program
This program is part of the The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) web site. An interactive guide for those wanting to lower cholesterol levels and reduce heart disease risk.

American Academy of Dermatology

A global community that integrates information and resources for persons with mental retardation and other disabilities and their families.

Food & Drug Administration (FDA)
A wealth of in-depth information on all products which the agency regulates including: food, human and animal drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, biologics and much more. Also has special sections for children, women, and consumers.

Headaches: American Council For Headache Education
Information on understanding headaches, prevention and treatment, current news items, discussion groups, and explanation of medications.

Healthfinder
A U.S. government gateway web site for health information. Resource lists and links to health related discussion and support groups, publications, medical journals, news, and government and non-profit health agencies.

Kaiser Permanente Public Web Site
The national public web site with information on our health plans in 18 states and the District of Columbia. Includes press releases, health tips, and information on accreditation and Permanente Medicine.

KidsHealth
A site devoted to the health of children and teens. An interactive and fun way to learn about health. There are sections for kids, parents, and professionals. Includes games, publications, health and medical information, animations of how the body works and much more.

Mayo Health Oasis
A huge library collection of health information. Truly an "oasis". Includes articles, reports, interactive components, and sections on cancer, diet and nutrition, heart health, and Women's Health Source, just to name a few.

Mental Wellness.com
Information for patients, families, and caregivers related to all aspects of mental wellness. Current and archived news stories with the latest in research, treatment, and social trends. Reference sections and a searchable database with common terms, overviews and other Web resources on many mental illnesses.

National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine
Information on complementary and alternative medicine, what it is, what treatments are available, how to evaluate CAM research, etc.

National Library of Medicine-Medline
The National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE database of more than 8.8 million references to articles published in 3800 biomedical journals, may now be accessed free of charge on the World Wide Web. It is a bit tricky to figure out how to do a good search, but once you get it down you have a wealth of information available to you.

New England Journal of Medicine
An online weekly journal, reporting the results of important medical research worldwide. The Journal is owned and published by the Massachusetts Medical Society. Search past issues, week-to-date journal additions, or special selected collections. This site is intended for medical practitioners so it is very technical.

Oncolink
This is probably the most referenced oncology site on the web. Covers current cancer research, journal articles, psychosocial support, patient information on all types of cancer, and much more. Based at the University of Pennsylvania.

Parent Soup
An incredibly comprehensive site for parents. Discipline, divorce, guidance, support, adoption, step families, toddlers, teens, infants... something for everyone. Discussion groups and chats on a laundry list of parenting topics, a library with fact sheets, other resources on the web for kids and parents if there's not enough here!

Planned Parenthood
Renowned education resources for women, men, parents, youth, and health professionals. Your online source for sexual and reproductive health information.Extensive indexed listing of related web sites.

Senior Net
A national non-profit organization whose mission is to build a community of computer-using seniors. Join roundtable discussions on all kinds of topics.

Smoking Cessation: Quitnet
This site is sponsored by The Massachusetts Tobacco Control Program (MTCP). Thinking about quitting smoking? Check out this site. Includes quitting guides, interactive tools, help and support, and links to resources. You need to register to use Quitnet, don't be shy.

The Physician and Sports Medicine
Excellent articles written by health professionals for MDs but also has a good personal health section. Archived journal articles on exercise, nutrition, injury prevention, and rehabilitiation.

Tobacco Control Archives UCSF
A collection of documents relating to non-smoking legislation initiatives, research on the health effects of tobacco use, and many other tobacco control resources.

Tooth Fairy's Home Page
A cute web site for kids (adults too) on dental hygiene, baby teeth, flossing, and FAQ's to the tooth fairy.

Travel Information Page, CDC
Includes a graphical map where you can click on area of travel and get detailed information regarding international travel health needs based on your destination.

Women's Health Research- Melpomene Institute
A non-profit research organization dedicated to women's health and physical activity. Gives overviews and related links for such topics as menopause, body image, self-esteem for girls, osteoporosis, and more.

Yahoo Health Directory
This is an internet search engine that can help you find all kinds of health information sites. Gives current headlines of health topics in the news, Health and Wellness section, schedules of all the Yahoo health chats and live happenings on the Web. In depth indices and sub-categories of internet resources. Gives references for alternative medicine sites.
