About the Intenisve Care Unit- Fremont

The Critical Care Unit is a 10 bed general Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit. It is an around-the-clock, highly specialized care for people who are:

  • seriously ill or injured
  • recovering from surgery or other treatment

The Intensive Care Unit is located on the 2nd floor of the hospital. It is staffed by professionals who use specialized equipment and knowledge to provide advanced medical care. Each patient's care is directed by a physician. Each nurse generally cares for 1 or 2 patients

The goals of the unit are to:

  • stabilize the patient's condition, that is keep it from worsing and prevent new complications
  • provide treatment that will help the patient achieve the fullest possible recovery

To ensure every patient's well being:

  • the ICU must be as free of germs as possible
  • all food intake must be closely monitored
  • staff must be able to quickly move and adjust equipment

For these reasons, visitors are generally asked not to give food, flowers or other personal items. But, that does not mean loved ones can not show thier love and affection.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
