Our Mission

The mission of Health Education is to improve member health and satisfaction by enabling Kaiser members and staff to be active partners in managing medical conditions, preventing disease, and promoting health and wellness. Health Education emphasizes developing sound decision-making, improving health skills and self-care practices and providing on-going support.

Health Education helps people protect, improve, and increase control over their health. It creates opportunities for people to learn how to control their own actions, as well as change the environments that influence their health. Health Education emphasizes active participation, informed decision making, self-care skills and the value of peer support. Health Education services address health plan members and their families, employees, and the public. A variety of educational strategies are used, including written and audiovisual materials individual instruction, classes and support groups. Health Education integrates technology, such as interactive web-based program and online services, into patient education and health promotion services
