The programs are funded by a combination of federal and state money.

California Local Care Consortium and AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) information from the

AIDS Treatment Data Network

California main page for the AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAP). Includes links to a list of county

care consortiums (programs responsible for HIV/AIDS-related benefits under the Ryan White CARE

Act), the list of medicines covered by ADAP (called the "Formulary") in California and, for most

covered medicines, a page of basic information about what it is used for, how to take it, any warnings

about it, and side effects and how to manage them.

amFAR (American Federation for AIDS Research)

Publisher of a free quarterly printed directory of treatments for both HIV/AIDS and opportunistic

infections and major funder of HIV/AIDS research.

ATIS (HIV/AIDS Treatment Information Service)

US national Standards of Care for adults and children with HIV/AIDS. Includes information about when

to start treatment for HIV infection, possible choices of what medicines to use to start treatment, when to

switch treatments, etc.

CATIE (Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange)

Sponsored by Health Canada, HIV/AIDS treatment information in English and French. Note that some

medication names are different in Canada from those used in the United States.

Expanded Access and Compassionate Use Programs

Information on availability of medicines nearing approval for general use made available in advance to

people who are failing other treatments.

Project Inform

Treatment and advocacy information in English and Spanish from one of the oldest and most reputable HIV/AIDS sites on the Internet (located in San Francisco). Project Inform publishes two newsletters,

Project Inform Perspective and wise words. The first is directed to anyone with HIV and the second is

written by and for women with HIV. Project Inform Perspective issues from 22 on can be found on their

web site, as can all issues of wise words.

San Francisco AIDS Foundation

Treatment, prevention, and public policy information in English and Spanish; publisher of BETA, a free

quarterly publication with feature articles about treatment issues and several ongoing departments, such

Asian & Pacific Islanders Wellness Center: Community HIV/AIDS Services

San Francisco-based organization devoted to HIV/AIDS issues for Asians and Pacific Islanders,

including issues of living with HIV, safer sex, HIV and STD testing, gay men, women, transgenders, and

youth.

Black Coalition on AIDS

San Francisco organization providing AIDS prevention information, housing assistance, educational

services, and events for the African-American community.

Filipino Task Force on AIDS of Northen California

National organization devoted to HIV/AIDS issues of people of color, including treatment and

prevention issues (including some material in Spanish), and community organizations. To access the

Spanish material, use the site's search facility to look for "Spanish".

New Mexico AIDS InfoNet

Fact sheets in English and Spanish on HIV/AIDS, prevention issues, tips for using HIV/AIDS services

effectively, treatments for HIV and opportunistic infections, medication side effects, alternative and

complementary therapies, and links to other sites. Provided by the University of New Mexico's School of

Medicine.

Office of Minority Health Initiative on HIV/AIDS

Information on HIV/AIDS prevention, living with HIV/AIDS, and a wealth of links to other resources

Tenderloin AIDS Resource Center (TARC)

National Association for HIV Over Fifty (NAHOF)

An organization dedicated to education, communication, inclusion, support, and advocacy for the

concerns of people over 50 living with HIV/AIDS, with an on-line newsletter, bibliography, and

information about local groups that provide support and/or care for people over 50 with HIV, mostly in

the eastern U.S.

Out of the Loop: HIV Issues for People over 50

Ohio State University's Senior Series resource for HIV issues for people over 50, including education,

prevention, and treatment resources.

UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Resources for People over 50

HIV Clinical Resource of the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute

While mostly for medical professionals in AIDS care, this site also offers a variety of resources for

While mostly intended for medical professionals in AIDS care, this site also provides information on

expanded access programs for new medications and clinical trials, patient assistance programs to help

Mostly designed for doctors, but with a variety of patient-oriented features also, such as the "Question of

the Week," and other materials accessible to the relatively savvy layperson.

Medscape HIV/AIDS Information

While mostly intended for medical professionals in AIDS care, this site provides a wealth of treatment

information accessible to the reasonably medically savvy layperson. A weekly e-mail news bulletin with

links to the site can be signed-up for from it.
