Meet Our Department

The Department of Cardiology consists of four cardiologists, four echocardiogram technicians, two electrocardiogram (ECG) technicians, one pacemaker nurse, and one cardiology medical assistant. In addition, we work very closely with three cardiology nurses who specialize in heart failure, coronary artery disease and cholesterol management. We pride ourselves on our warm, friendly atmosphere and our deep committment to the health of the greater Richmond community.

Our Cardiologists:

Dr. Jeff Ritterman has been working at Kaiser Richmond since 1981. His interests include Preventive Cardiology and the relationship between psycho-social stress and heart disease. Dr. Ritterman works with our cardiology nurses to provide special care for our members with heart failure, coronary artery disease and elevated cholesterol.

Dr. Ellen Killebrew started working at Kaiser Richmond in 1970. She recently returned to Kaiser Richmond after working at Kaiser Oakland for 22 years. Dr. Killebrew has a special interest in heart disease in women. She is a gifted teacher of the finer points of cardiac diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Killebrew is a Clinical Professor of Cardiology at the University of California at San Francisco.

Dr. Jane Mallet joined our cardiology "family" in 2003. Dr. Mallet inserts permanent pacemakers and supervises pacemaker follow-up care in those patients needing this service. Dr. Mallet also spends one day a week in Kaiser San Francisco or Summit Hospital where she performs cardiac catherterization for our patients needing this important invasive test.

Dr. Shaojun Wang joined us July 1, 2004. Born in China, Dr. Wang is bilingual speaking both English and Mandarin. Dr. Wang inserts permanent pacemakers and supervises pacemaker follow up care. He also performs cardiac catheterization at Kaiser San Francisco and Summit Hospital.

Our Support Staff:

Faye Moore began working at Kaiser Richmond in 1976. Like many of our Kaiser Richmond members, Faye immigrated to the bay area from Texas. Faye started her career working as a laboratory technician. She was chosen to undergo cardiology training because of her natural abilities and committment to our community. Faye provides our members echocardiograms and stress tests of superb quality. Faye is the manager of the cardiac laboratory services. Her warm and caring smile brings comfort both to our members and our staff.

Rowan Madamba joined our cardiology "family" in 2001. Quiet and reserved by nature, Rowan fit right in immediately with his pleasant personality and excellent work ethic. He provides our members with echocardiograms and stress tests of excellent quality and continues our tradition of caring deeply for our members.

Theresa Chapman joined us in 2000 working as an ECG technician. Prior to that she worked for 14 years as a laboratory technician here at Kaiser Richmond. She provides our members with personalized care and often goes out of her way to exceed the expectations of our members. A patient wrote us complimenting Theresa on her "friendliness abd wonderful attitude." In addition to her regular duties as an ECG technician, Theresa also helps us perform Stress Tests.

Pat Williams joined our cardiology "family" in 1992. Pat's warm personality makes our patients feel right at home. Like all of our cardiology "family", Pat cares deeply for the welfare of our members. When not working with us in cardiology, Pat provides EEG services to those members who are being tested for seizure disorders.

Our Cardiology Nurses:

Alta Smith, R.N., works with Dr. Jane Mallet to provide follow up care for our pacemaker patients. We follow a large number of patients who have cardiac pacemakers of various types. Alta makes sure that the pacemakers are being checked regularly and that they are operating properly.

Margie Ginotti, R.N., works with Dr. Ritterman to provide specialized care for our heart failure patients. Margie's high energy level, enthusiasm and deep committment to patient care are an inspiration to so many of our members with heart failure. She constantly goes out of her way to make sure that our heart failure patients are receiving the highest level of care possible.

Judy Davis, R.N., works with Dr. Ritterman to care for our many patients with elevated cholesterol. Judy has been in charge of managing our cholesterol clinic since 1993. An exceptionally hard worker, Judy's diligence has resulted in improved outcomes for many of our high risk patients. Her cholesterol group visit has served as a model for similar programs throughout the northern California Kaiser region. Like the rest of our team, Judy is motivated by a genuine concern for the wellbeing of our members. Find out more about our Cholesterol Management Program.

Lea Carnero, R.N., works with Dr. Ritterman to provide intensive outpatient care for our patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass graft surgery or coronary angioplasty. The name of Lea's program is Multifit. With extreme patience and gentle caring Lea is able to help these members during this difficult period in their lives.
