The Wound Care Clinic

DEPARTMENT OF WOUND CARE

The wound care clinic was created out of the need for our patients to have a place where they can get the most comprehensive, accessible and knowledgeable care of essentially any type of wound that your physician feels is appropriate as out patient care. The clinic was initially created as an extension of the Department of Surgery about 7 years ago but now has expanded its role and now gets referrals from all over the medical center and is run by a very qualified group of wound care nurses who are always supported by the staff surgeons. The clinic sees about 3500 new patients every year, and has a large variety of wound care supplies available to accurately take care of nearly any type of wound that is encountered.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
