Information for New Patients
Your First Visit
Your first visit may involve several steps, so it is best to allow a few hours for the visit. Please register on the first floor of the Cypress building at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment. You will need your Kaiser card and a photo ID.
Once you have registered, you will come to the second floor of the Cypress building to the waiting area of Medical Station E. Place your Kaiser card and registration slip in the window provided. The medical assistant will call your name. They will take your height, weight, vital signs, and show you to an exam room. You will then meet your oncologist, who will discuss your diagnosis and treatment options. Further testing may be necessary before the best plan for treatment can be made. You may wish to bring a family member or friend to your visit. Having a support person is often helpful. Don't hesitate to ask questions, we suggest you write your questions out before your appointment. If you are not sure what to ask, we will try to make sure you have all the necessary information. You will be told about the other services available to you and your family. We will try to help you get the information you need.
Your next appointments will be scheduled by us. You may receive separate appointments for the doctors and the nurses in the infusion area. When you are scheduled to see the doctors or the nurses, you must register at the registration desk on the first floor prior to the appointment. You come to Station E on the second floor and place your card in the window.
Before each infusion session you may need a lab test done, your doctor or nurse will let you know. If you need a lab teast, please visit the lab one day before your appointment or at least one hour before your scheduled treatment.
