WELCOME TO OUR CLINIC

Audiology is a discipline dealing with the ear and hearing. We work closely with the Head and Neck Surgery Department and the Internal Medicine Department, providing hearing tests, evaluations of the middle and inner ear, and aural rehabilitation. We make recommendations regarding hearing aids, assistive listening devices, cochlear implants, musician’s earplugs, and other devices. We are staffed by licensed dispensing audiologists who are fully trained to dispense, adjust, and repair a wide variety of hearing aid models. We use state of the art fitting and verification equipment to optimize the fitting of hearing aids.

ABOUT HEARING LOSS

Hearing loss affects more than 28 million people of all ages around the country. If you have hearing loss, a hearing aid may help you capture everyday sounds you are now missing and help eliminate frustration you feel when you can't catch all of a conversation. Do people seem like they mumble when they speak? Do people complain that your TV is too loud? If “yes” you may need a hearing test.

HOW TO GET CARE

As a Kaiser Permanente member, you can have your hearing tested by one of our licensed audiologists. Appointments are by referral only. If you are experiencing ear symptoms, please call an advice nurse or contact your personal physician or nurse practitioner through the Primary Care Call Center at 510-752-1000. If you do not have a personal care provider, contact Member Services at 1-800-464-4000.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
