Welcome to the Department of Hospital Medicine

Your medical care at Kaiser Oakland Medical Center will be under the direction of an internist specializing in Hospital Medicine. We are a tertiary care facility practicing state of the art medical care supported by specialists in all medical fields.

A team of physicians will be involved in your care, always under the supervision of a specialist in Hospital Medicine. We are fortunate to have a residency program of physicians training to specialize in internal medicine. Interns (first year of training) and residents (2nd and 3rd year physicians) work closely with the supervising attending (Hospital Medicine specialists), nursing and support staff, and specialty consultants to provide your high quality medical care. We work closely with your primary medical doctor to ensure that your medical care transitions smoothly at times of admission and discharge.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
