HEALTHY NUTRITION AND FITNESS FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS

Pediatric Weight Management Classes Flyer

  • Healthy Eating, Active Living for Kids and Families: Overview

Age: 5 to 17 years and parents. Don’t know how to take that first step? Take this intro class to healthy eating & physical activity for kids. Get an overview of resources at Kaiser and in the community. Decide on a “next-step” Action Plan for your child or teen. One time 2-hour class. Please call for specific dates and times.

  • Real Science: Prevention of Childhood Overweight

Age: All ages and families. Increase your nutritional IQ! Learn about nutritional concepts; red flags for nutritional concerns in children, teens and adults; body composition and body fat; and Body Positive. The program is taught by an experienced nutritionist and is open to all family members, including siblings, grandparents, and baby-sitters. Weekly session for 3 weeks. English and Spanish sessions. Hayward/ Sleepy Hollow Building (Spanish) and Fremont West (English).

  • Kids in Dynamic Shape (KP KIDS)

Exciting, fun and interactive pediatric weight management program! Our 6-week program provides families with knowledge and skills to live a healthy lifestyle. Kaiser Permanente families with children ages 5 to 12 years old are welcome to enroll.

Dates (2009): Call for dates. Planning for classes to start:

  • April 22 (for six weeks), Wednesdays, 6:00 - 7:30pm (English)
  • November 4 (for six weeks), Wednesdays, 6:00 - 7:30 pm (English)

Niños en Forma Excelente

  • March 2 (for six weeks): Mondays, 5:30 - 7 pm (Español)
  • September (for six weeks): Mondays, 5:30 - 7:00pm (Español)

Fees:

  • $60.00 for KP Member Child
  • $48.00 for 2nd Child (or 3rd, etc.) - a 20% discount!!
  • $48.00 for KP Employees (for child of KP Employee) - same great 20% discount!

  • Teen Fitness

The Teen Fitness (previously known as the Pediatric Weight Management Program) is a long-term approach for families to learn habits necessary for a healthy lifestyle. The program combines nutrition education, exercise and behavior change.

Eligibility and class information:

  • Families must be very motivated to make lifestyle changes.
  • Teens ages 12-17 years old.
  • Class size: 15-20 participants.
  • Mandatory information meeting: held before the class start date for all interested families.
  • Duration: meetings are held Monday evenings (excluding holidays) from 5:30 - 6:30 pm for 8 weeks.
  • $50 total non refundable fee.
