About our Department and Child and Adolescent Services at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center

The Child and Adolescent Division of the Department of Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente Kaiser San Jose Medical Center offers a variety of mental health services. We hope you will not hesitate to call us, for advice or to arrange for services, if your child appears to be troubled or suffering in some way. Call to find out about our orientation program, if you believe you may need to seek services.

Your child’s treatment plan, based on an assessment of his or her needs, may include health education, individual, family, or group interventions, and sometimes, medication, as appropriate. If your child should need Chemical Dependency services, these are available within our Department of Psychiatry as well. As mentioned above, your child’s emotional health is related to the quality of his or her physical heath, family life, and social and academic experiences. The mental health professionals in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic encourage the promotion of health in all these realms.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
