My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am an MD trained in family practice. This means I have been trained to treat entire families, from babies to the elderly. I decided to do this because it's a link to the old school way of doctoring and in my opinion, a better way to treat patients. Nothing is more important to a patient than being well known by his or her physician.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy revolves around knowledge. Patients need the knowledge to make the best decisions regarding their health and it's my job to educate them and help them understand their body and the options available to them regarding their health. Communication between doctor and patient is a key factor as is a sense of responsibility by the patient for his or her own health.

My Tenure With Kaiser Permanente

With the exception of a short 8 month stint in private practice, I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1998. The reason I chose Kaiser Permanente is because I truly believe in the preventative approach but I personally have also been witness to the amazing cutting edge, life changing care that we are a part of at Kaiser Permanente. Technology is mainstream at Kaiser Permanente and I think that it is very important to me to treat my patients quickly and efficiently.

Professional Interests & Affiliations

I have a special interest in dermatology and work as a Dermatology Fellow for the Adult Medicine Department. I am an active member of the CMA and the Placer/Nevada County Medical Associations.

On a Personal Note

I spent most of my early childhood and high school years in the Appalachians of Eastern Tennessee/Western North Carolina and the plains of Central Texas. It was during that time that I gained an appreciation for small towns and the personal touch and friendliness that they are well known for. My family and I have decided to settle here in the beautiful foothills of the Sierras. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. My wife and three sons enjoy the outdoor life. We spend most of our free time boating, skiing and camping, and my sons have become particularly fond of geocaching. When not outdoors, I enjoy reading, debating politics, watching old reruns of Seinfeld and keeping up with my beloved Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my home page. I recommend you bookmark it and reference it frequently. There are many useful links to help you do things like refill prescriptions, make appointments and gain access to clinical information as it relates to your health and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
