Welcome to My Home Page!

My colleagues and I designed My Doctor Online to make it easier for you to take care of your health care needs. We've included a variety of superior online programs and health information that we have evaluated or written ourselves. Providing you with only the highest quality materials demonstrates our commitment to giving you the best quality care.

Background

I joined Kaiser Permanente in Fresno in 1991. During the period 1991-1999, I was Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and was involved in clinical outcome research. In September 2003, I rejoined the Kaiser Permanente in Fresno.

My practice includes joint replacement surgery, arthroscopic surgery & fracture repair surgery. I have a special interest in hip & knee replacement surgery including revisions. I have a continuing interest in clinical outcome research and evidence based medicine.

Currently, I divide my time between my practice at Kaiser Permanente Fresno and the University California San Francisco (UCSF) Fresno. I am involved in the training of the next generation of Orthopaedic surgeons

Roles and Responsibilities

Surgery can often relieve pain, restore physical function and improve the quality of life. Before proceeding with any operation, however, both patient and surgeon must make the decision together. There must be careful consideration of the risks, benefits, and alternatives to surgery. Sometimes careful watching and waiting is indicated and in other cases surgery is the first and best method of treatment.

When patient care honors the balance between a conservative and an aggressive approach to an orthopedic problem, patients have the best chance for excellent results. I am totally committed to providing the best personal quality of care and service to my patients.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
