I’ve been in pediatric practice since 2002, following my years of training in Los Angeles and medical school in Boston, Massachusetts. Since arriving at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek, I’ve been dividing my time practicing both pediatrics and adolescent medicine in our Teen Clinic.

I grew up in Orange County, California, and left home to attend college at the University of California, Berkeley, where I graduated with a degree in molecular biology. I took a year off after college and enjoyed some time traveling, after which I returned to school at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. I chose pediatrics because I enjoy the art and science of children’s medicine. I find it both challenging and rewarding to help kids and their families. I chose Kaiser Permanente because there is no better place to practice my craft. I have fantastic resources, and diverse, smart colleagues to draw from and share with my patients and families.

In my practice of medicine, I like to work with families and involve them in decisions about how to help their children grow up healthy. In doing so, I attempt to give them the best evidence-based options of care and try to educate them. I have two strong beliefs in my philosophy of medicine: First, I urge all my patients to be routinely immunized, as I strongly believe that the benefits of vaccines far outweigh their risks. Second, I am judicious in my use of antibiotics and other medicines, and prefer only to prescribe these medications when they are necessary.
