My Biography

I graduated from Mount Carmel College in 1985 with a P.U.C. degree in 1985. I received my medical degree in 1990 at M. S. Ramaiah Medical College. I completed my Internship and Residency in General Psychiatry at the Nassau County Medical Center in 2000, and a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Stanford University, School of Medicine in 2002.

I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 2003. I specialize in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I am a member of the American Psychiatric Association.

I was born and raised in India. I speak Malayalan and Hindi. In addition to my interests in mental health issues, I enjoy reading, music, and gardening.

Feel free to call me for any routine concerns, questions and updates about your child's care. If you have a medical or psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital if you can safely transport your child.

The best way to reach me for non-urgent issues is to leave a message on my confidential voice mail at (408) 945-2055. Please leave your name, medical record number, the purpose of your call and the best way to reach you. I access and answer these messages Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I return calls as soon as I possibly can. Our nurses act as an invaluable part of our treatment team. Along with our psychotherapists, they are on hand to assist in answering questions and addressing important treatment issues, especially regarding medications. Our nurses can be reached at (408) 945-2915 during times I am not available.

During office hours, an on-call psychotherapist is also available to assist you with acute non-medication concerns. After hours, you can still call the psychiatry clinic. You will be able to be put through to the Psychiatry After Hours Call Center. They have well trained staff that can be helpful in addressing your concerns and can contact the on-call psychiatrist or psychotherapist as needed.

Secure messaging / E-mail is not yet available in psychiatry. Our organization is taking steps to create a secure system in order to safeguard physician-patient confidentiality before this service is offered. We in psychiatry look forward to providing secure messaging in the future.

However, you can currently access many of the results of laboratory studies you may have had taken recently. To do so, go to KP.org, select the northern California region, and choose the "Your Health Record" tab. You will then need to sign in with your user i.d. and password. On the first visit to the site, you will need to register in order to access your confidential information.
