How to Use My Home Page...

My Biography

I grew up in Michigan and obtained a degree in Dietetics. However, I soon came to realize that I wanted to help people make more changes in their lives beyond their diets. I pursued a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work at Fordham University, where I had challenging internships in New York City.

I enjoy working at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco because the organization does a great job at keeping the providers current on studies in mental health treatments. Kaiser emphasizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and studies have shown this therapy to be very effective in treating depression and anxiety. I use cognitive behavioral therapy in my sessions along with other treatment modalities as appropriate.

Throughout my training and current practice I have found I learn the most from my clients. I work in conjunction with my clients in setting their goals and in determining a treatment plan. I specialize in depression, anxiety, relational problems, and postpartum depression. I am most interested in depression and anxiety because they are very common conditions and affect almost everyone at some point in their lives. I enjoy watching members improve and recover.

My practice philosophy is eclectic, and includes cognitive behavioral techniques, psychodynamic, and mind/body perspectives.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
