I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. I went to college at the University of California, Berkeley. After graduating with a bachelorís degree in African American Studies in 1992, I moved to Boston, Massachusetts. I graduated with a joint MD/MPH degree in 1997 from Tufts University. I moved back to Seattle where I completed a primary care internal medicine residency at the University of Washington in 2000. I worked in the Seattle area at Virginia Mason as a general internist for about one year before moving to the Bay Area to start an adolescent medicine fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. After one year of fellowship training, I decided to return to general internal medicine. I started at Kaiser Permanente in 2002. In addition to general internal medicine, I have a strong interest in public health, preventive medicine, and adolescent/young adult health care.
In addition to working in the clinic, I am an Assistant Physician in Chief for our medical center. I am involved in health promotion, health education, diversity, service, and other areas.

Gloria Palma is my medical assistant. In addition to coordinating my daily schedule, she is also a valuable resource for patients. Among her many skills, she checks blood pressures, EKGs, and can perform ear washes. She can also manage medication refills and help schedule specialty referrals.
My name is Gloria A. Palma. I was born in Santiago, Chile (South America).
I came to the USA when I was twenty one years old. I had different jobs and nothing was satisfying to me. I decided to go become a medical assistant for which I went to Bryman College in San Francisco. I graduated with honors in 1986. I went to work for a pediatrician in the Mission district in San Francisco. I worked with her for almost seven years. After that I worked for a couple of pediatric clinics until I decided to apply at Kaiser. I was hired a month after I applied, and have been working for Kaiser since May of 1995. I have been very fortunate here. I have the privilege to work with one of our best doctors here at Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Scott Tsunehara.
My hobbies are watching movies at home, knitting, cross stitching, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing games on my computer at home.
