About Me
I was born in Saigon, Vietnam. I immigrated to the United States in 1975, and I was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. In three years of study, I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park campus and graduated Cum Laude Honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology.
After college, I was then granted a research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland where I performed research related to the effects of chemotherapeutic agents on ovarian cancer.
Following my fellowship, I received my medical degree at the University of Maryland at Baltimore (1997). I completed my first year of ophthalmology training at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and then completed my final years of ophthalmology at Saint Vincent’s Hospital affiliated with New York Medical College in New York City.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2001. I am a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, and New York Ophthalmology Society. I am board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
My Interests
During my spare time, I like to take advantage of the beautiful California landscape and climate by playing outdoor sports including hiking, beach volleyball, tennis and golf. I speak Vietnamese fluently.
