How to Use My Home Page...

Thank you for visiting my Home Page!

An East Coast native, I received my M.D. from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Residency training after medical school offered an opportunity to see another part of the country and I was drawn to California for its diversity, culture and natural beauty. I finished my residency training in Internal Medicine at UC Davis Medical Center in 1995 and after a few years in practice, decided to relocate to the Bay Area and join Kaiser Permanente. I knew little if anything about Kaiser Permanente when I first came to California, but gained valuable insight during my residency training. I was impressed by the system of integrated healthcare and multispecialty group practice, qualities that still resonate with me today.

Medicine is a profession based on lifelong learning, and working at a teaching hospital such as ours affords me the opportunity to stay current with all the latest developments in my field. I have always had a strong interest in teaching and find great professional satisfaction in supervising and mentoring resident physicians as Assistant Program Director for our residency program.

I enjoy learning new languages and caring for patients from all ethnic backgrounds. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy alpine and nordic skiing, playing the violin, cycling, and computers.

Other Languages: German; Japanese
Undergraduate Education: BA in Biology, Amherst College
Professional Affiliations: American College of Physicians; Society of Hospital Medicine; San Francisco Medical Society
Began Practice: 1992
Joined Kaiser Permanente: 1997

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
