My Biography

I received a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Berkeley. After completing fellowships in Psychiatry at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center and in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University Medical Center, I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1991. Kaiser Permanente San Francisco offered me the opportunity to work full-time with chemically-dependent persons. I was also attracted to Kaiser Permanenete because it offers comprehensive, integrated service for all members at a reasonable cost.

I enjoy working with chemically-dependent persons because they make big positive changes relatively quickly. Chemical dependency recovery focuses on wellness in all areas of a person's life. It is very uplifting work.

Outside of the office, I enjoy working on old cars. My current project is a 1946 Chevy. I like reading mysteries and historical novels. I enjoy walking at lunch time and any activities with my partner, children, and grandchildren.
