My Biography

I and my family have been Kaiser Permanente members for a number of years. I came to work at Kaiser because of the Spanish-speaking unit. I knew that this medical unit was searching for someone with expertise in behavioral medicine. I think patients feel very comfortable coming to this unit, knowing that providers and staff will understand their cultural values. Patients feel less marginalized within an inclusive environment such as this. I would hope that people who have not been in contact with me for a couple of years would not hesitate to get back in touch with me, should the need arise.

It is really fulfilling to provide the type of behavioral specialist intervention that this population needs, and that they would not get anywhere else. I like helping patients realize that they can resolve their problems. My special interests are in mental health care for Spanish-speaking and indigenous populations, and services to women.

I find that people in this medical center are amiable and display an excellent customer-service orientation. Kaiser is tenacious about supporting a hospitable milieu.

I enjoy outdoor activities, visiting farmers’ markets, attending festivals and other outdoor events. I love to cook and eat healthy, well-balanced meals, experiment with recipes, and engage in breathing and relaxation exercises. I have two dogs and a cat.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
