My Biography

In my work, the greatest satisfaction for me is in helping members improve their lives for the better. Watching members work their way through the process is very rewarding. My goal is to provide a supportive environment and safe place for clients to visit. I see an amazing spectrum of clients, people of all ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences.

Kaiser Permanente has a positive philosophy and holistic view of health care. Members have easy access to services, nearly all of which are provided on-site, including medications, groups, and individual treatment as is medically necessary.

My clinical approach is primarily short-term, cognitive behavior, integrating psychoanalytical treatment. I specialize in Anxiety Disorders, including treatment of Panic Disorder/Attacks. I have a particular interest working with young adults, in crisis intervention, and in group therapy. I lead the PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) group, and co-lead the Anxiety Overview Group, and a Latino Spanish-speaking support group. I sit on the Regional Anxiety Champions task force, a group that reviews treatment guidelines based on research about how to best serve Kaiser patients--across northern California—with a uniform protocol. The task force has developed Clinical Practice Guidelines for common anxiety disorders.

Anxiety disorders are eminently treatable, and disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, panic episodes, or social anxiety, present a large portion of our incoming Psychiatry clients.

I enjoy hiking, cycling, and spending time in the outdoors, and am an avid world traveler. I believe in living a healthy, well-balanced life, and I like to work out, run, and eat well.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
