My Biography

I did an internship at Kaiser Permanente in the Department of Psychiatry that I found to be a very positive experience. I greatly appreciated the freedom from having to call managed care reviewers to justify my treatment plan each day. The best aspect of the Kaiser Permanente health care system is that it is a self-contained model, so providers do not need to complete a lot of paperwork or consult with reviewers to get treatment plans sanctioned. Providers have more autonomy in this respect. After completing my hours for licensure at Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute, I decided I wanted to continue my career at Kaiser Permanente.

I most enjoy doing psychotherapy with individuals, but I love the variety of duties that I have in my current position as Manager. I enjoy the diversity of the population and issues that patients bring. I find it satisfying when I am able to help patients at the start of their treatment experience when I am on triage, and when I can help resolve problems or develop new programs as a Manager. I especially like working with patients from the Latino community. I have a special interest in working with the LGBTQ community as well. As a registered dance/movement therapist, I run one dance/movement therapy group per week in the department.

I am an avid outdoors person. I ski, hike, backpack, camp, and mountain bike on a regular basis. I also take two modern/jazz dance classes per week, as well as salsa dance when I can. I often bike to work. Passing through Golden Gate Park in the morning is a great way to start my day. I also look at the beautiful view from my office window. I try to cultivate fun and supportive relationships with both other managers and the staff to make work feel like a good place to be.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
