My Biography
Kaiser Permanente has a good reputation for hands-on physical therapy. In our Physical Therapy department, I received good instruction and gained skills in practical, applicable methods. Kaiser maintains high standards for physical therapy, and I work with a terrific group of colleagues. My mission is to help people enjoy movement; working at the Chronic Pain Management Center allows me to observe movement, come up with interactions, and give people options that might facilitate their movement. My patients change solidly over time, in very moderate steps that lead to slow, steady progression.
I received a grant through Kaiser Permanente to increase movement for older adults. I also enjoy aquatic physical therapy and I love working with members in warm water. Being in the water allows people to develop patterns that might be hard to replicate on land.
During my free time, one of my most avid pursuits outside of work is aikido, a Japanese martial art of harmony. I have been practicing this art for 27 years, and run an aikido dojo in San Francisco. I thrive by meditating almost every day, and swimming.
