My Biography

I was born, and grew up in, Clifton, New Jersey, just a stone`s throw away from New York City.

At a time when calculators cost hundreds of dollars and aviator glasses and long hair were all the rage, I graduated from Clifton High School, completed college and then moved to sunny California for medical school. (I never missed the winter snow or summer humidity back east!) I completed my general and vascular surgical training at the University of California in San Francisco, which included two years of research in vascular surgery.

I was fortunate to land my first job as a vascular surgeon here at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, where I have the tremendous opportunity to practice vascular surgery and care for my patients in a way that I can be proud of on a daily basis. I have a special interest in less invasive, endovascular approaches to vascular diseases, and I perform procedures in the radiology suite as well as in the operating room. I work with my patients to decrease their risk factors for atherosclerosis. I am on the UCSF faculty and involved in the training of surgical residents.

Away from the hospital, I am the beaming father of a wonderful young man, Jackson, whose artwork adorns my exam room walls. I otherwise occupy my time reading, practicing yoga, and playing tennis, a lifelong passion.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
