My Biography

Originally from southern California, I moved north to complete my education. It didn’t take long before I fell in love with the Bay Area and found that I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California Regional Genetics Program is the largest and most comprehensive genetics program in the entire United States, so it was easily my top choice for a career in genetic counseling. Kaiser Permanente not only offers the full range of genetic services for members, but it provides those services without the paperwork and difficulties of independent medical insurance. In addition, our integrated model means that providers across specialties can know a patient’s medical history in an instant and provide members with highly coordinated care. I count myself especially fortunate to be surrounded by a group of caring and fun colleagues in the Genetics Department where I primarily work.

The field of genetics encompasses a broad, ever-changing variety that remains exciting and challenging to understand. After many years of direct patient care, I have recently taken a role as the Regional Genetics Education Coordinator. In this role, I am involved with identifying new ways to increase knowledge about genetics for both patients and providers.

During work days, I try to find time over lunch to exercise by walking or jogging through the Presidio, or taking a yoga class. Away from the office, I enjoy playing ice hockey, square dancing, and hiking. Other interests include spending time with my husband and our two daughters, reading, and cooking. I love good food and am an avid consumer of the seasonal produce and local products found at the farmers’ market near my home.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
