About Me

I am a podiatric surgeon at Kaiser Oakland and am very proud to be on staff at Kaiser Permanente. The high quality of care delivered by doctors who make decisions based on the best interest of their patients is what most attracted me to this practice.

When I was a teenager, I emigrated to the U.S. with my family to California from Wales, Great Britain. I received my undergraduate degree from UC Irvine and my Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from CCPM in San Francisco. I subsequently moved to Seattle, WA where I completed my residency training in foot and ankle surgery at Providence Swedish Medical Center.

I am board-certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. I am especially interested in complex foot and ankle reconstruction, surgical biomechanics, and trauma. A lot of my time is spent in the academic setting, working on clinical research focusing on increasing our fund of knowledge and optimizing outcomes in foot and ankle surgery. I am currently the director of the Kaiser San Francisco Bay Area Foot and Ankle residency program which has produced and continues to produce many talented and well respected podiatric surgeons throughout the country. I consider it a privilege to be able to train and influence these future leaders of our profession. I am honored to have served as faculty and lecturer at various state and national scientific conferences in podiatric surgery and hope to continue to pursue my academic interests.

In my leisure time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, backcountry skiing, sea kayaking, and camping.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
