My Healthcare Practice
I am an Oculoplastic and Orbital surgery specialist. I perform each surgery with care, utilizing all of my skills and training to achieve the best possible result in each individual case. I am truly committed to achieving excellence in the treatment and care of my patients.
As an ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgeon, I specialize in procedures that deal with the management of deformities and abnormalities of the eyelids, the lacrimal (tear) system, the orbit (the bony cavity surrounding the eye), and the adjacent face (eyebrows & midface). Abnormalities of the eyelids and adjacent structures can result from a variety of causes including birth defects, aging, tumors, injury, infection, or medical diseases such as thyroid disorders. Repair of such abnormalities may be considered to be either reconstructive (functional) or cosmetic (for appearance only). As a general rule Kaiser will cover all or part of the costs of functional surgery but not for cosmetic surgery.
My goal is to provide excellent patient care including all areas of cosmetic, eyelid, lacrimal, reconstructive and orbital surgery. The art of ophthalmic plastic surgery has been refined and enhanced in recent years by the use of innovative surgical instrumentation, refined surgical techniques and new imaging modalities. My goal is to provide the highest level of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery while preserving vision and improving my patients' quality of life.
I chose this specific field of medicine because I enjoy the variety of Oculoplastic Surgery and the opportunities to be creative. The reconstructive challenges are enormous, yet fulfilling.
Receiving Your Healthcare From Kaiser Permanente
Advantages to Kaiser Permanente are vertical interactions with easy access to other specialists working in a cooperative environment. The opportunities for “cross utilizations.” Kaiser is very different from fee-for-service where physicians hold on to cases, opposed to the sharing of resources and knowledge. In Kaiser we have the ability to order lab, imaging studies, and schedule surgery without 3rd party approval.
My Outside Interests
I enjoy travel, reading, jazz concerts, and theatre. I am a member of the Sigma Pi Phi and Omega Psi Phi fraternities.
