I specialize in Head and Neck Surgery; Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
My Tenure With Kaiser Permanente
I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2000. I am the medical director of Cosmetic Surgery Services. I have dedicated my career to mastering time-proven, state-of-the-art techniques in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
My Personal History
During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters. I enjoy running, skiing, and golf.
My Practice
As the medical director for Sacramento Cosmetic Services, I work closely with physicians and surgeons from multiple specialities in the care and managment of facial cosmetic and facial reconstructive abnormalities. I am truly dedicated to achieving excellence in the care of my patients. To achieve the best possible result in each individual case, I perform each surgery with care, utilizing all of my skills, training and experience.
My Profession
As a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, I specialize in procedures that focus on the management of deformities and abnormalities of the nose, ear, eyelid, face and neck. Abnormalities of the face and neck can result from a variety of causes including birth defects, aging, injury, infection, medical diseases and tumors. Repair of such abnormalities can be either reconstructive (functional) or cosmetic (for appearance only). As a general rule, Kaiser will cover all or part of the costs of functional surgery, but not for cosmetic surgery.
Common reconstructive (functional) procedures include functional rhinoplasty for the treatment of complex traumatic/congenital deformities and nasal breathing problems such as nasal valve collapse. I treat functional eyelid/brow abnormalities and static facial reanimation procedures for facial paralysis. I work closely with our dermatologists and Moh's surgeons in the managment of facial and nasal skin cancers including excision and soft tissue reconstruction after Moh's surgery.
I perform all procedures related to cosmetic surgery of the face and neck; including nasal contouring (rhinoplasty), facial rejuvenation (face lifts), eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), ear surgery (otoplasty), and minimally invasive brow lift surgery. I also perform Botox to treat frown and dynamic facial lines as well as skin peels and laser procedures to treat facial veins, and age-related skin conditions of the face.
In addition to my cosmetic and reconstructive practice, I also work closely with the endocrinologists in our medical group. I have significant interest, training and experience in the management and treatment of thyroid and parathyroid abnormalities including goiters, benign tumors and thyroid cancers.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente
I have been at Kaiser since 2000 and I can’t imagine a better place to practice medicine. I have a wonderful balance between my cosmetic and reconstructive practices that would be very difficult to replicate in private practice or a fee-for-service environment. Kaiser Permanente encourages collegiality, cooperation, and collaboration amongst all of its physicians. In my mind this is by far Kaiser Permanente’s greatest advantage. Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is an incredibly complex, rapidly changing specialty of medicine that has a great deal of overlap with other medical and surgical specialties. Specifically with regard to my practice, my patients and I benefit from the specialty specific expertise of my collaboration with exceptional colleagues from the departments of Plastic Surgery, Dermatology/ Moh’s Surgery, Oculoplastic Surgery, Endocrinology, Head and Neck Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngogy, Audiology, Speech and Swallow therapy, Pediatrics, Genetics and Neonatology among others. I can order laboratory, imaging studies and/or schedule surgery for any medical condition I determine to be of medical necessity without having to obtain the approval or pre certification from a third party payer. Really, my job at Kaiser is quite simple and rewarding versus the alternative . . . I just have to be a good doctor and surgeon.
