Non-Covered Foot and Ankle Services - Nail and Callus Care

Trimming/grinding of toenails and trimming/paring of corns or calluses are not covered benefits of the health plan, except for patients with severe loss of circulation or sensation. You can be screened by your primary care doctor to see if you might qualify for this benefit.

If you do qualify, the service will be provided in the Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery for regular visit co-pay.

If you do not qualify, you must pay full fee for service to an outside provider, should you wish this service.

Our department is currently in the process of developing a fee for service offering for nail and callus care. We are not open for this service yet, but intend to offer this service soon. Please check back here for updates on when the service will be offered and how you can access the service.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
