My Biography

Welcome to the Department of Medicine at the Kaiser Richmond Medical Center.

I grew up in Oakland, California, attending local schools. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley and my medical degree from the State University of New York at Brooklyn. I completed my internship and residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA/Harbor Hospital in Southern California and I am Board-Certified in Internal Medicine.

I returned to the Bay Area in October 1999 and have been working at Kaiser Richmond since then. I chose Richmond because I like the diversity of the community and the small town feeling of our hospital. I enjoy my job because I get to interact with lots of interesting people every day. I am also Assistant Chief in the Department of Medicine. I speak some Spanish, but not speak Chinese (Probably not what you expected!)

In my free time, I enjoy a variety of things including playing chess, jogging, cooking, fishing, and playing with computers. I especially like spending time with my wife Linh, a dentist (We have been married since 2002) and son, Luke who was born in 2004. I take off Wednesdays to spend more time with them.

I look forward to working with you on any health issues. Please feel free to use the "E-mail your doctor" link on my home page to contact me regarding any health related issues. I look forward to hearing from you!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
