About me

I have been in the Ob/Gyn department at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland since 1987-- first as a resident physician, then on staff since 1991. The combination of primary care for women plus surgery really agrees with me. I enjoy teaching resident physicians and have a particular interest in medical ethics.

I live in Berkeley with my husband, Jack, and our three children. Here we are at Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada.

Community is important to me and I try to stay involved locally. I play violin in the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra and even went into labor with my second child while playing a concert. I grow orchids and carnivorous plants.

It is important to me that we work together to optimize your health. Let me know how I can be of help to you. I am very happy as a physician in The Permanente Medical Group. I look forward to continuing my work as your family's gynecologist for my full career.

How to reach me

I love the secure messaging system! If you have an urgent need, call (510) 752-1080, but otherwise, secure messaging is a much better way to reach me. Once you have established a username and password (by going to www.kp.org - click the KP.org Members Home link at the top of this page), you’ll be able to e-mail me directly through the Email your doctor link also found on this page (just above My Office Hours). I check messages at least once daily. When I’m in the office, I check them frequently.

If you need to make an appointment to see me, the best way is to schedule online by clicking the Appointments/Rx refills tab at the top of this page. There you can also directly book a mammogram if you are over 39.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
