About Me

I was born and raised in a little town called Mangalore on the western coastline of South India. I did all my education, including medical training, in India.

My parents guided me to this wonderful and rewarding profession, and I am very grateful to them for this. I love to help people and want to make them feel better.

I have been an Internist at Kaiser Permanente for seven years now and I love it. I joined this organization right after my residency training at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA, which was also affiliated with an HMO. The experience there made me realize that I wanted to work in a similar environment.

At Kaiser Permanente, I have found a perfect balance between work and home. I work part time so that I can spend more time with our young children. This helps me avoid stress or feeling rushed. Over the past seven years, I have come to know most of my patients very well and enjoy their visits. Preventive care is very important and I agree with the significance Kaiser Permanente places on it. I also have wonderful colleagues here. We all work together as a team to serve the needs of our patients.

I am a member of the Alameda–Contra Costa Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.

I enjoy spending time with my family. We have 2 wonderful children, ages 10 and 6. I enjoy cooking (mostly Indian food...I haven’t tried anything else), skiing, and hiking. I speak a few South Indian languages; Kannada, Malayalam and Tulu. I can understand Hindi even though I don’t speak it very well.

To get the most out of your appointment:

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment. This will allow enough time for registration and for the staff to get your vital signs such as blood pressure and weight.

  • If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, we may have to reschedule your appointment to avoid any inconvenience to patients scheduled after you.

  • Please bring copies of any important outside records that might be helpful.

  • Please bring a list of your current medications and dosage.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
