Thank you for visiting my home page
Please explore the excellent links (left side of the page) to dermatology related sites for information on skin diseases and skin cancer. This page can also direct you to prescription refills, the Healthwise Handbook (information on how to address common medical problems), and appointments for the primary care departments. I want to bring special attention to the Healthy Living Resources link. Here you will find the Healthy Lifestyles Program that will allow you to get a personalized total health assessment, weight program, nutrition program, or a personalized plan to quit smoking. Also under this link is the Health and Drug encyclopedia.
About Me
I was born in South Bend, Indiana, and I grew up in Hollywood, California. I have had the privilege of practicing at Kaiser Permanente since 1992. A one year experiment in private practice in Georgia in 1998 convinced me Kaiser Permanente was the way to go! I chose dermatology as a specialty after spending time with my dermatologist Uncle, Dr. Emanuel Liss in South Bend, Indiana. He exposed me to the wonders of the skin; the largest organ of the body! It is wonderful to be able to treat both young and old, male and female, and do medical, surgical, and cosmetic aspects of the specialty.
I am a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, California Medical Association, and Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association.
In addition to seeing patients for the Department of Dermatology, I also serve as Associate Chief of Dermatology in the Diablo Service Area and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco.
Our department offers esthetician services, including chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and product sales. In addition, we offer Botox, hair laser, and vascular laser (for facial blood vessels) appointments. All of these cosmetic services are on a fee for service basis. For information (http://www.kpcosmeticservices.com/) and appointments, call (925) 847-5325.
My personal interests include spending time with my family (wife and 3 children), biking, gardening (please supply me with your tomato growing tips!), cooking, golf, antique hunting (medical knickknacks) and dining.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
