Welcome to my home page.

I am happy that you decided to visit my web site. My staff and I are dedicated to do our best to take care of you. This Home Page was designed to offer my patients reliable and informative information on Nuclear medicine procedures and thyroid related problems. I hope you will find it helpful. I also want to assure you that Nuclear Medicine testing is very safe. The radiation exposure from the test is very low. It may be disappointing for some of you, but our test does not make you glow in the dark.

About Me.

I was born and raised in Hong Kong and moved to the United States after high school. In college I studied Electrical Engineering and actually practiced engineering for six years. Because of my love of health science and the opportunity to interact directly with people, I decided to change fields. The change was the best decision of my life.

I attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. I subsequently completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara and residency training in Nuclear Medicine at University of California at San Francisco and Stanford University. I also completed a research fellowship in Nuclear Medicine at Stanford University. Because of my interest, I have devoted a lot of time in studying Thyroid diseases during my training. I am Board Certified in Nuclear Medicine by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1996 and moved to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center at Redwood City in 1998 to be the Chief of the Nuclear Medicine department and Thyroid clinic. I enjoy being a part of the excellent health care team at Kaiser Permanente providing top quality health care and services to our members.

Besides clinical practice, I am also involved in bringing technology into the practice of medicine. I have been serving as Chief of Information Technology at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City since 2000.

I am married and have four children. My family loves to travel and would love to learn about the world and the different cultures. I speak fluent Mandarin and Cantonese. Besides work, my wife and I stay very busy with our children’s activities.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
