About Me
I became a doctor initially for the awesome potential the field has for helping and serving people. I enjoy the daily interactions that I have with my patients and believe that it is a two way learning process. My philosophy is to try and learn one new thing a day.
My husband and I moved to California three years ago. I was attracted to Kaiser Permanente because of its sense of camaraderie and informality. I also felt that I could practice medicine by my own strict standards without having an insurance company dictating what I did. I was also attracted to Kaiser Permanente's philosophy of preventive health care.
I believe that, patients should play a very active role in their own health care. I let them know that for them to stay healthy I need them to be committed to their own well being. I emphasize early intervention and prevention. I am very open to alternative health practices.I am passionate about weight management and in 2007 started the 'Medical Weight losss Management Program' in San Jose, along with regional collaboration. I now primarily manage the medical weight loss program as its medical director.
I am a strict vegetarian and my husband and I follow a low fat diet whenever possible. I enjoy cooking and try to find new ways to help an old recipe transform into a healthier one. We also try to get to the gym whenever possible.
My strongest belief is that you treat people the way you want to be treated. I practice with a sense of humor. My patients think I practice stand up comedy on the side!! I believe very strongly that when you truly listen to your patients the answer is right in front of your nose.
My family is very important to me. I part time in order to keep my life in balance. I am actively involved in my children’s everyday life and extra curricular activities. My husband and children are a daily source of encouragement to me and support all my endeavors.
I love to read, cook, travel, paint, and do creative art projects. I also have extended family in Northern California with many nieces and nephews who I get together with whenever possible.
