My Practice Philosophy:

Through compassion and respect I hope to provide quality evidence-based healthcare that can improve patients' difficulties with communication.

About Me:

I was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut. I attended the University of Connecticut (Go Huskies!) where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders and a Doctorate degree in Audiology. During my time at UConn, I was fortunate enough to have a clinical rotation at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, CT where I learned American Sign Language and became immersed in Deaf Culture. It was there that my interest peaked while working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, and learning about different styles of communication.

Being a "total communication" school, I was exposed to children who solely used sign language, others that were strictly oral when communicating, others that utilized Cochlear Implants, Hearing Aids, FM Systems or some that combined several different approaches. I then went on to complete my one year audiology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas where I worked with all patient populations including pediatrics and adults, as well as engaging in vestibular testing, hearing aids, central auditory processing testing, and auditory brainstem response testing.

I recently joined the Kaiser Permanente staff in September 2009, and am thrilled to be living on the West Coast! I am a certified Audiologist of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and State of California, and also a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

My Interests:

I am a huge sports fan due to the great teams located in New England, and of course, my alma mater (UConn Basketball!) Recently I've joined the Kaiser Permanente Personal Best program which will help me train for upcoming 5k and half marathon runs. I am also excited to head up to Lake Tahoe this winter and check out the snowboarding scene. Being a new resident of California, I expect to stay pretty busy with all this state has to offer.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
