My Biography
As a lifelong Kaiser Permanente patient, I have enjoyed the benefits of integrated and comprehensive care. Now as a genetic counselor, I admire the way in which this organization encourages all of its members to take charge of their own wellness and health through providing education, support classes, and resources. It is a unique approach to medical health care, and one that helps me to feel that my providers and colleagues are aligned with the same focus on quality care. From encouraging direct e-mail communication between patients and providers, to offering a wide array of services, healthy lifestyle resources, and even weekly farmers’ markets and yoga classes, Kaiser makes it so much easier for patients to feel like they are in partnership with their medical providers, sharing a common goal of good individual health and a thriving lifestyle.
I joined the Kaiser San Francisco Genetics Department because I was eager to be part of an integrated team. While Genetics is sometimes viewed as a luxury component to medical care, at Kaiser this service is accessible to any members who receive a service referral. Our department is full of knowledgeable, caring, and talented providers who strive to meet a tremendous standard of excellence with their patients.
I have a particular interest in perinatal genetics, and love working with patients who are seeking preconception or fertility evaluations, as well as those who desire prenatal services. To me, the most rewarding part of being a genetic counselor is when a patient feels empowered, educated, and respected after receiving the information and services that genetic counseling can provide. Helping to make patients feel that their decisions are supported and to ensure that they are not alone navigating the situation and struggles before them is one of the many reasons why I find this career fulfilling.
When I’m not working, I enjoy cooking, traveling both near and far, seeing local music artists, knitting, and walking around the city exploring all of the great neighborhoods and activities. After being on the east coast for many years, it is wonderful to be back in the Bay Area spending as much time as I can with my cherished friends and family. I “live well and thrive” by keeping active and engaged with my community, with friends and family, through yoga, and by eating well, laughing as often as possible, and finding joy wherever I can.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
