My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a gastroenterologist. This means I take care of problems of the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver. I became interested in this field because not only does it involve a critical thinking component of problem solving, but also endoscopy, which allows direct visualization for diagnosis and treatment.

My Practice Philosophy

A good patient-physician relationship stems from effective communication. Therefore, I believe patients should actively participate in their healthcare. My role is to explain the disease process and to formulate a treatment plan in partnership with patients. Because of my background in public health, I advocate living a healthy lifestyle: an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2009. What attracted me to work at Kaiser Permanente is its ability to provide comprehensive medical care, from primary care to subspecialty evaluations. A collegial team approach to healthcare is practiced. In addition to providing excellent clinical care, the physicians are involved in research, in order to provide the most up to date care, utilizing technology and evidence-based medicine.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
