My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am an emergency room physician. This means I take care of people of all ages with various medical and surgical issues. I chose emergency medicine as a specialty because I liked the diversity and challenges I had been presented with while I was an emergency room nurse. It seemed to be a natural way of providing advance medical care in my practice of medicine. I also want to diagnose problems and know outcomes in a short period of time.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy is to provide compassionate, quality medical care to all my patients equally, regardless of age, gender, race or socioeconomic status and also to save lives. I strive to be thorough and efficient on a daily basis in helping my patients with their emergencies.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2009. I chose to work for Kaiser Permanente due to its vast resources of consultants. Kaiser Permanente has a closed system that makes it easy to refer patients quickly to the respective specialists. I feel at ease knowing my patients have good follow up care.

Professional Interests and Affiliations

I am affiliated with the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association. In January 2009, I was awarded the Five-Star Service excellence at Methodist Hospital of Sacramento for my commitment to patient care.

On a Personal Note. . .

I am married with one daughter. I am also of Filipino-Chinese descent, born in the Philippines. I have been a California resident for 22 years. I was a registered nurse for 7 years before attending medical school. I chose to complete my emergency medicine residency in El Paso, Texas to improve my Spanish since I intended to return to California to practice medicine. I practiced at Methodist Hospital of Sacramento and Mercy San Juan in Carmichael prior to joining Kaiser Permanente. I enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, and dancing.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
