My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am an emergency physician. This means I am the first line of defense for our care facilities. I chose to be an emergency physician because this work is extremely challenging, but emotionally rewarding. I leave the hospital at the end of the day knowing I positively impacted the lives of my community.

My Practice Philosophy

I believe that patients should be empowered to take control of their own health and well being. I try to provide care and consultation based on many years of education and experience but I also genuinely respect individual choices and beliefs. I am deeply committed to providing the most support and encouragement when patients need me most and work diligently to help build a patient’s personal foundation for healthy, happy living.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I’ve been with Kaiser Permanente since 2008. Having been exposed to several other health care methodologies and programs, I grow more confident every day that Kaiser Permanente has the most effective model of delivering the highest quality health care to the community. Nowhere else is there such a smooth continuity of care where I can treat someone in the Emergency Department and ensure that they can follow up with their primary doctor or specialist the following day. Nowhere else have I seen so much emphasis placed on disease prevention and a healthy lifestyle – I routinely enroll patients with chronic conditions into special education pathways where they learn about managing their disease and staying healthy. I am privileged here at Kaiser Permanente to have the freedom to practice the best care practices available and all of our efforts are directed to a single goal - to provide the best care to our patients.

On a Personal Note. . .

My family immigrated to the United States from the USSR when I was a teenager, an experience that helped shape me forever. I am very lucky to have experienced many cultures, spending frequent time abroad. I am supported by a loving wife and three fantastic sons who keep me humble, happy, and on my toes. I have always been fascinated by the immense beauty of the land that surrounds us in California and enjoy taking hikes with my family and friends. I also love spending time watching my children grow, reading a good fiction novel, and practicing martial arts.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
