Welcometo my practice. It is an honor to be your Primary Care Provider. I look forward to a lasting relationship built out of mutual trust, candor and comradeship. Please take this opportunity to visit my homepage. Here you will get a wealth of information and tools that you may find useful in your quest for a happy, healthy and long life. I encourage you to spend time reviewing them and as always, please feel free to discuss with me any of your questions and concerns. I will work with you to help understand medical information that is pertinent for your particular condition, so that you can keep abreast with the ever growing science of Medicine, as it relates to you.

I obtained my medical degree from the University of Madras at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, one of the premier institutes in South Asia. I have been practicing medicine since 1993. In the interim, I completed a General Surgery Residency at Christian Medical College Vellore and Internal Medicine Residency at University of Medicine and Dentistry- Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, New Jersey, US. I am board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine. I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2008.

My clinical interests include Preventive medicine, Diabetes, Hypertension, Dyslipidemia, Thyroid and GI disorders.

When I am not practicing medicine, I enjoy reading, cycling, traveling, and gardening. I devote most of my weekend to my wife and three children and fellowshipping with my local Church. Aside from English, I speak fluent Tamil, Malayalam and some Hindi.

My philosophy of care is based on the good old adage – “a stitch in time saves nine” and “prevention is better than cure”. I encourage you to proactively participate in your own health care by investing your time, energy and money wisely in your own health and partnering with me to reach your goals.

In case you do fall sick or have a chronic condition, I will use the knowledge and skills that I have acquired to offer you management options for your condition and together we will tailor a personalized treatment plan that you are comfortable with. To ensure that you get timely and appropriate medical care, I will work with you and guide you in integrating the services of the Specialists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Clinical health educators, Nurses, Medical assistants, and other health care professionals.

I believe that stress reduction, lifestyle modifications, self improvement, and a strong psychosocial and spiritual support system add tremendously to restore health and longevity.

Recommendations to get the most out of your appointment and care:

  1. Ask questions. Do not hesitate to ask me to explain if you do not understand any aspect of your medical care.
  2. Preventive health screenings and immunization. Ask me if you are due for preventive care. Make use of the preventive health prompts available on kp.org /myhealthmanager and the yellow registration slip.
  3. Know your medications. Carry a medication card listing the names, amounts, and reasons for taking them to every office / ED visit. In case of any doubt or difficulty, bring your medications with you to your visit with me.
  4. Be honest and transparent. Please let me know at the beginning of the visit what your major concerns are and what you hope to get from our visit. I need to know what you think might be causing your symptoms, what your concerns and fears are, issues at home or work affecting your health, remedies that you have tried (including any over-the-counter and alternative medicine treatments).
  5. Be compliant. Once we agree on a particular treatment plan, please comply with it. Keep me informed of any untoward intolerance / medication side effect. If you are not comfortable with the current treatment recommendation, please let me know, so that we can discuss alternatives.
  6. Lab tests: Get laboratory testing before routine annual physicals, prior to 3 – 6 medication refill, following a medication change or at regular intervals as we agree upon. Even though some results are automatically released, I usually make my comments of the test results by email or by phone and send out all results by postal mail. If you have not heard from me within a reasonable period of time, please do check with my office.
  7. Pursue a healthy life style. Care for yourself with regular exercise, a properly balanced low fat, low sodium, low carbohydrate diet, avoidance of tobacco, recreational drugs and excess alcohol, appropriate use of vitamin supplements.
  8. Register for access at www.kp.org, the single most effective tool to manage your health needs and efficient mode for our two way communication.
  9. Feel free to let me know how well I am doing in meeting your needs. I need your encouragement and feedback to provide excellent care and foster long standing relationships.
