How to Use My Home Page...

My Biography

I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco because I felt I really aligned well with the organization’s values. I am able to practice genetic counseling within an integrated system, which is a significant advantage in the genetic counseling process. I also enjoy interacting with diverse patient populations, discovering what makes each person’s, or each family’s, situation unique. Two patients presented with similar options may make entirely different, but valid, decisions based on their life experiences and beliefs. It is important to me to be able to help people reach a decision that is right for them.

The best aspects of Kaiser’s health care model are preventative medicine and comprehensive services. A health care system valuing prevention and the coordination of patient services fosters a long-term commitment to wellness.

I enjoy the educational aspect of genetic counseling, which often requires taking complex information and personalizing it to meet individual patients’ learning styles. Areas of particular interest to me include hereditary cancer histories, and the role pathology plays in determining the likelihood of an inherited susceptibility in an individual or family.

My hobbies include sailing, hiking, backpacking, and exploring new restaurants and cuisines, of which there is no shortage in the Bay Area! I THRIVE through maintaining healthy eating habits. As a child, I was raised to eat balanced meals, and I have incorporated that practice into daily living as an adult. I look forward to meeting and working with you at San Francisco Medical Center.
