About Me
I’m a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but have called California my home since early adolescence, having grown up in Eureka, California.
I received my BA degree in Social Work in 1971 from Humboldt State University, Arcata, California. I graduated from California State University, Sacramento in 1978 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I am licensed by the state of California, Board of Behavioral Science Examiners. I joined Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry in January, 1997.
I have a special interest in women’s issues, reading, gardening and consider myself somewhat of a physical fitness and movie buff. I’m presently working with the Adjustment Disorder Pathway.
The Adjustment Disorder Pathway provides mental health services for patients that are having symptoms related to distressful life situations such as divorce and work stress. Treatment is based on medical necessity (current symptoms such as sleeplessness or sadness for example). A Best Practice Model of care is used which may include brief individual therapy and groups. Typically an Adjustment Disorder does not require medication so primary treatment is provided by psychologists, licensed clinical social workers and marriage family therapists.
Be sure to visit the Kaiser Permanente Website for additional information regarding appointments, prescriptions, health education classes and other health-related topics. You can also click on my department link above to receive additional health information.
