About Me

I was born in New Jersey, then spent the next 18 years there before moving to Delaware in 1990 where I attended University of Delaware, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating in January 1995, I decided to stay for another 6 years to pursue a music career, as my band toured and recorded several albums, receiving some regional radio airplay and performing over 500 shows. In 2001, my soon-to-be wife and I moved to Boston where I earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Holistic Health over a 4-year period. While in Boston, I worked in both outpatient and residential settings, providing dual-diagnosis counseling services for adults and adolescents.

Interested in experiencing the more temperate and generally warmer weather of California, we moved to Davis in 2004 after I obtained employment with Sacramento County, where I worked full-time for the following 2 years, providing mental health crisis services for all ages, and continue to serve as an on-call clinician. During that period, I also became licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Marriage & Family Therapist. I started with Kaiser Permanente in July 2007, as an IOP therapist/case manager, a position which I thoroughly enjoy due to the supportive team-oriented environment and comprehensive care that’s provided to patients.

The Intensive Outpatient Program is an Integrated Urgent Service for members at risk of inpatient hospitalization for their acute psychiatric symptoms. It is a short term program four mornings per week that includes intake and treatment planning, Activity Therapy group, Talk Therapy group, Dual Diagnosis group, psycho Educational group, Case Management and Medication evaluation and management. The IOP is offered in the Sacramento and Roseville clinics. IOP appointments are accessed by referring clinicians via the IOP pager.

My intention is to help restore individuals to their optimal level of functioning by enhancing their self-awareness, coping skills, and sense of compassion towards their circumstances.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
