Welcome to my Home Page...

This Home Page was designed to offer my patients reliable and informative Health Education Materials and let you know a little bit about me. I am looking forward to working closely with you to ensure that you receive the very best health care that I can provide.

My background...

I decided to become a physician twice. The first time, I made this decision in the former Soviet Union. I received my medical degree from the Leningradskij Sanitarno-gigienickeskij Medicinshij Inst., Leningrad, 195067, U.S.S.R. (now known as Saint Petersburg State Mechnikov Medical Academy, Russia since the country's reorganization) in 1982. I had 5 years of clinical experience as a physician in Russia. My work included General Medicine and Endocrinology in both inpatient and outpatient settings. So, when I decided to take all necessary exams and establish myself as a physician in the United States, I knew what I was getting into.

I completed my residency at California Pacific Medical Center in 1994. I am board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine in the specialty of Internal Medicine. For a brief period after my residency, I worked in private practice in the Bay Area.

I chose to go into a internal medicine practice as it allows me to practice a full scope of medical care. I like to focus on disease prevention and comprehensive chronic condition management.

Why I choose to work at Kaiser Permanente...

I applied to work for Kaiser Permanente in 1996 after having personally experienced the care offered during a visit to Kaiser Permanente by a family member. I feel very strongly that by working here, I have the autonomy to provide the best care for my patients without ever going for administrative review or the hassles of insurance approval.

Since I joined The Permanente Medical Group at San Jose Medical Center, I have witnessed many good changes. More resources are devoted to the improvement of the quality of care and to making it more personalized for our patients and members. As a result, I am able to spend more time seeing my own patients and it is easier for my patients to get appointments with me.

On a personal note...

When I am not busy attending to patients, I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.

My philosophy of care...

My philosophy of practice is to combine “high touch” and “high tech” medicine and to empower my patients to take the best possible care of themselves.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
