My Biography

I came to San Francisco Medical Center’s Chronic Pain Management Center for two major reasons: I wanted to work with people as part of a multidisciplinary team, and I’m good at solving problems. I consider myself to be a service-oriented person. Working within Kaiser Permanente’s integrative model allows my practice to be available to members of all socioeconomic levels. I spend less time running a business and get to invest in more interaction with the patient. I have the ability to treat more complex conditions. In Kaiser Permanente’s system, I always know what is transpiring with my patients. I know the other providers and specialists they’ve seen, a benefit that permits me to practice more holistically. My areas of particular interest include pain and stress management, orthopedics, addiction, and a modality known as cupping.

During my free time, I enjoy bouldering, visiting hot springs, recreational cycling, contact improvisation, and ballroom dancing. I like to read about spirituality and national history, and I enjoy fiction as well.

I THRIVE through off-trail hiking, doing plenty of cardiovascular endurance exercises, hatha yoga, and a regular breathwork practice. I am also a healthy eater!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
