About Me
I was born in sunny Los Angeles. My father, an optometrist, prescribed my first pair of glasses when I was very young; and I had to keep going back for a stronger prescription every year! My dad loves optometry; I guess that’s why I wanted to follow in his footsteps. Besides, teaching third grade, as my mother does, seemed much more difficult! The rest of my support system consists of a loving husband, older sister, younger brother, and a huge extended family.
College brought me to northern California where I attended U. C. Berkeley for my undergraduate and graduate studies. During my time at Cal, I was able to study abroad in Denmark where I ate a lot of, and learned a little, Danish. I caught the travel bug there and always think about what country I might visit next. Unfortunately my Danish and Spanish are very weak now, and as I am a fourth generation Japanese American, I only know a few Japanese baby words.
I love optometry because I get to meet so many different people from all walks of life. I enjoy educating people about their eyes and my philosophy is to treat every person as if they were a family member.
- My Favorite Holiday: Christmas (I’m Catholic)
- My Favorite Part of the Work Day: When People Leave with a Smile!
So please come visit me and don’t forget to bring your smile!

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
