How to Use My Home Page...

My Biography

My practice at Kaiser Permanente includes acupuncture within a holistic, multidisciplinary pain clinic. I assist patients in obtaining optimal health using acupuncture, lifestyle and nutritional recommendations.

My goal is always to improve patients' quality of life and sense of well-being, reducing or eliminating their pain through acupuncture, and empowering them with lifestyle modifications to create the maximum balance, energy and clarity they can achieve in their lives.

I feel truly fortunate to work in Kaiser Permanente's highly collaborative environment of dedicated physicians and shared resources. I joined San Francisco Kaiser Permanente's Acupuncture Department upon its inception in 1996, and I am proud to be a care provider in our unique multi-disciplinary holistic approach to chronic pain management.  I greatly enjoy working with my richly diverse and international patient population, as I have lived in Asia and Europe.

I have also worked in several research programs in addition to my own clinical practice. From 2003 to 2006, I conducted research as a member of Stanford's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in a clinical study of acupuncture treatment for depression during pregnancy. In 2004, I was part of a national panel which developed a research instrument for use in clinical trials of acupuncture for gynecological disorders.

In my free time I like concerts, movies, reading, healthy cooking, and studying world religions. I keep active with regular running, pilates, weight training, yoga, and hiking.  I have practiced Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism for over 10 years and believe in the One thread of humanity. I am dedicated to wisdom and service. One of the greatest joys of my life is being a mother to my beautiful 6 year-old daughter.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
