My Biography

I began working at San Francisco Medical Center as part of the Summer Youth program. In this program, students work within a department and learn about a particular specialty, like an apprenticeship. I enjoyed the environment and the people with whom I worked. I recognized that there were clear opportunities for growth, so I decided to come on board in the Health Education department.

What I like most about my work is the inner satisfaction I receive from helping members incorporate positive improvements in their lives, whether it is in the area of diabetes, weight loss, or fitness. We all get along well in this department.

One of Kaiser Permanente’s major strengths lies in the diversity of its staff and providers, and especially in our interpreting services and different language modules (e.g., Spanish and Chinese). Kaiser Permanente also provides up-to-date technology, enabling members to refill prescriptions and make appointments online, with no need to phone.

I help myself to thrive by trying to reduce my sugar intake and getting some form of exercise each day, even it this just means parking further away so I can get more walking in. I eat fruit every day and drink lots of water.

When I’m away from the medical center, I enjoy spending time with my kids, recreational bicycling, trying different kinds of cuisine, and reading celebrity gossip! I am married and have two dogs, a Chihuahua named Niki and an Alaskan Husky mix named Suki.

Other Languages: Spanish
Special Certifications: HIV/STD Counseling; CPR
Joined Kaiser Permanente: 1989

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
